PRIMARY FRENCH IMMERSION FRENCH FOR CHILDREN BEGINNER FRENCH CLASSROOM LANGUAGE FRENCH TARGET LANGUAGE POSTERS TWO SETS @ $4.50 EACH IN THE BUNDLE All files are non-editable in a zipped format. French target language display posters creating an instant introduction to 40 commonly-used expressions in your French classroom. The posters also give the learning environment a fabulous French look and feel, promoting French as a living language, featuring in the everyday life of your learners. They introduce learners to a range simple everyday language in French from the very beginning of their learning, and they are able to familiarize themselves with both the ‘look’ of French words, and how sounds are represented in the written form. The language is simple and effective, suitable for absolute beginners. I use the posters to promote use of the target language in contexts that we meet frequently and regularly, such as Asseyez-vous ! Levez la main ! and Qui a fini ? There are some greetings, such as Bonne journée ! and Bonjour tout le monde ! It’s important to build routines in the languages classroom, using only the target language, and avoiding translating everything orally when we speak to learners. It’s easy to develop conversational routines too, starting with greetings, and asking how people are - I generally do this with talk time, encouraging learners to ask each other how they are for example. The posters do show the English translation, as I’ve found that this facilitates learner understanding initially, and certainly helps them feel more confident in the very early stages. I explain that the words do not necessarily match correctly, for example Quel jour sommes-nous ? literally means What day are we? but translating correctly means recreating meaning in the second language: in English, we ask What is the date today? This is really useful knowledge for both current and future learning. I also move the posters around a little in our first lesson, and give learners sheets with certain expressions in English, and they walk around looking for the corresponding expression in French, writing it down on their sheet - I’ve included one of these in each set. I’ve found this to be a really successful way of getting learners to write and spell correctly in French, again from the very beginning of their learning. I definitely focus a lot on pronunciation, emphasizing that words often do not sound how they look - accurate pronunciation needs a lot of practice, and the written word can actually confuse learners unless we work on pronunciation and producing the accurate sounds of words, and look closely at linking spelling with sound. The expressions in Set 1 are: Let’s speak French; Hello everyone; Goodbye everyone; How are you?; I’m very well thanks; Sit down please; Stand up please; Look please; Listen please; Repeat please; Everyone together; Once again; Put your hands up; Don’t shout out; Put your hands down; Quietly please; Stop please; Put your things away; Well done The expressions in Set 2 are: Do you understand?; Yes, I understand; A volunteer please; Let’s start please; Put your pencils down; Open your workbooks; Close your workbooks; Who has finished?; I have finished; Louder please; Have a good day; Have a good weekend; Sit in a circle; What is your name?; My name is…; What is the date today?; The date us…; More quickly; More slowly; Very good There are two backgrounds to choose from - French flag or plain white to keep prep costs to a minimum, 80 posters in total. Laminate if possible: they will display really well, are far easier to manipulate as flashcards, and will remain in excellent condition for years. This bundle features two sets of bingo games, with 12 fruits and 12 vegetables in masculine, feminine, singular and plural forms respectively. The games are ideal for developing listening, speaking, reading, writing and spelling skills in French, as well as learning key beginner French vocabulary. There are 360 bingo grids and 80 calling cards in this bundle, everything you need for lots of games with all your students. All the grids are designed for all the squares to be crossed off in order to win the game, and depending on the size of your class, there can be several winners per game. The grids with pictures are in both colour and BW: colour looks great, and I laminate these for class, using them with wipe-clean pens so that they can be recycled for years. The BW versions work really well for quick games - print and go! Each set features 12 fruits and 12 vegetables respectively, and I’ve found this to be a reasonable and manageable number for young learners. The fruits are: green apple : lemon : oranges : peach : raspberries : pineapple : kiwi : pear : bananas : green grapes : strawberry : watermelon The vegetables are: mushrooms : cauliflower : carrots : lettuce : cucumber : tomato : cabbage : potatoes : garlic : broccoli : peas : onions I have folders ready with lots of different bingo grids in them, so that they are good to grab and go whenever students select them, or I decide it’s time for a quick practice and refresh session. I distribute the grids in a variety of ways, for example students get a random selection of pages, and they select the order of grids they play from. Students can also cut out the grids, and place them in a small bowl or similar object on tables, and then select individual grids randomly. Each set includes the following non-editable files: = 40 picture-only 9-square grids, 4 per page (10 pages). I give students a random selection of pages, with students selecting the order of grids they play from. You can also cut out the grids, and place them in a small bowl or similar object on tables. Students select grids randomly from the bowl. = 40 French word-only 9-square grids, 4 per page (10 pages) - perfect for improving listening skills and great for quick translation when using the English, rather than French, calling cards. = 40 English word-only 9-square grids, 4 per page (10 pages) - I use these with the French calling cards, it’s great practice in both listening and vocabulary recall. = 40 mixed French words, English words and pictures 9-square grids, 4 per page (10 pages) - these are ideal for multi-skill language learning, with students using all their French knowledge at once. I use the French calling cards for these grids. = 20 mixed picture and French word 9-square grids, 4 per page (5 pages) = 20 calling cards in French, 4 per page (5 pages) = 20 calling cards in English, 4 per page, (5 pages) Have a browse in my store for more French resources, including special offer bundles and freebies. I like to share essential beginner French vocabulary that I can use in everyday talk with my young learners from the beginning of their French learning program. The key focus is on the definite article, both masculine and feminine, singular and plural, though I do use the set to start to compare these with the indefinite article, which I’ve found to be a really successful way of helping students embed grammatical concepts such as gender, implicitly, without the need for repeated explicit instruction. We use the set not only when we’re introducing and practicing French fruits, but also for developing French language skills and awareness in general. Students are able to familiarize themselves with how French words ‘look’, and how sounds are represented in the written form. I don’t actually introduce 25 fruits at once, but in my classroom decor, I generally have additional language to maximize students’ exposure to related vocabulary. The fruits are: green apples : red apple : bananas : cherries : dates : fig : green grapes : red grapes : kiwi : lemon : mango : nectarine : olives : oranges : papaya : peach : pear : pineapple : pumpkin : raspberry : redcurrants : rhubarb : starfruit : strawberries : watermelon The flashcards / posters are 8.5 x 11 (A4) portrait size. There are two backgrounds to choose from - French flag or plain without frame to keep prep costs to a minimum. I always print on card stock and / or laminate my flashcards / posters, as they display much more effectively, and remain in excellent condition for years. Files are non-editable in a zipped format. They may not be copied, rewritten, shared or distributed outside your own classroom in any way. The license for purchase is a single-user license only. School licenses are available. Please read the Terms of Use. The set comprises 198 matching French and English games cards with a vocabulary recall and write workbook, focusing on 99 beginner French words and phrases. The vocabulary topics are: nombres 81-100 : Quelle heure est-il ? (half past) : adjectifs : en ville : verbes français : conversation My students really like to work independently, in pairs and in small groups, and these vocabulary cards enable them to do that. There are lots of games and activities to play, and I’ve described several that are successful with my groups. I’ve found that giving students regular and frequent opportunities to play with the cards, not only when we’re focusing on these particular vocabulary groups, but across the school year, really helps them understand and fully learn the vocabulary. The 18-page workbook gives students a different way of consolidating their vocabulary - writing it out really helps to embed language, and is great for spelling too. Students can use the same workbook several times by covering previous answers. There are 3 differentiated recall and write challenges, as well as a full alphabetical French-English vocabulary list. My students learn a lot from applying their French practically and creatively with the game card templates. - The workbook is really versatile and useful for a number of learning contexts, such as exam prep and sub lessons. The written recall challenges are as follows: = Challenge 1: students write the English word /phrase from a French prompt, with all the words and phrases grouped together in the same category = Challenge 2: with this challenge, students write the words/phrases in French from an English prompt, and again, they’re all group together in the same category = Challenge 3: this final challenge ‘switches’ at each question from French to English, and lists words and phrases randomly from each category - I’ve found that this really does encourage my students to think hard about their French vocabulary. Perfect for young learners of Spanish and an ideal introduction to the animal kingdom in Spanish. They provide lots of opportunities to learn a range of animals, both***masculine and feminine***, and really do help to create a lively language learning environment. Children can develop their skills in word recognition and recall, pronunciation, speaking, listening and reading in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher. They’re a great way of introducing the concept of gender, and of looking at the indefinite article in Spanish too. It doesn’t matter is any of the animals don’t feature in your immediate or even longer-term learning plan: the card games encourage children to engage happily and confidently with Spanish, to identify cognates and near-cognates, and to begin to link spelling with sound in Spanish. They also help learners begin to work out the meaning of unknown words using both visual clues and prompts, as well as linguistic indicators. There are 24 animals featured, across a series of decks, which enable you to vary and differentiate your games: Deck 1: picture and words cards, with both an image of, and the word for, the animal in Spanish, which is useful for multi-skill learning, particularly in the introductory phase of learning animal vocabulary, and for familiarising students with the written word in Spanish. Deck 2: picture-only cards, useful for vocabulary recall Deck 3: word-only cards in French, useful for word recognition, reading and spelling. Deck 4: word-only cards in English, useful for a variety of games focusing on vocabulary recall Deck 5: both Spanish & English words on a single card, useful for close comparison of language, and recognition of corresponding words Play the games regularly for maximum benefit. I’ve described a range that work well with my classes. Playing against a timer adds some extra fun - can children beat their own time record? The animals featured are: a bee : a bird : a butterfly : a cat : a caterpillar : a chicken : a cow : a dog a donkey : a duck : a fish : a fox : a frog : a horse : a kangaroo : a monkey a mouse : an owl : a parrot : a pig : a rabbit : a sheep : a spider : a turtle / tortoise Have a browse in my store for more Spanish games cards, and a wide range of other Spanish teaching and learning materials, with Spanish dollar deals, special offer bundles and lots of freebies. ¡MUCHAS GRACIAS Y BUEN APRENDIZAJE!

Games with goals: lots of festive fun with these Spanish Christmas bingo games - an ideal multi-skill language learning activity for developing listening, speaking, reading, writing and spelling skills for***Spanish*** language learners of all ages - in my experience, adult learners really enjoy a few competitive games of bingo too. The Spanish Christmas vocabulary and Spanish Christmas pictures are great as a stimulus discussion about Spanish Christmas traditions and customs, comparing them across different Spanish regions, other Spanish-speaking countries, and Christmas in countries around the world. There are 100 grids in total, in both color & BW. The color grids definitely look really good, but can prove expensive to prep - I have sets that I’ve laminated, and students use wipe-free pens, so that the grids can be used many times. Younger learners do tend to prefer the BW grids, taking some additional time to colour them in themselves, practicing the vocabulary as they do so. I often combine that activity with revision of colors, which can work really well too. These games are designed for players to cross off all the words or pictures on their grids in order to win the game. There is a range of differentiated grids: = 40 picture-only bingo 12-square grids, 4 per page (10 pages) Color and BW. = 40 words & pictures bingo 12-square grids, 4 per page (10 pages) Color & B&W. = 10 picture-only 30-square grids (A4 portrait format) Color & BW. = 10 words & pictures 30-square grids (A4 portrait format) Color & BW. = Calling card***, featuring 33 Spanish Christmas words. Print or photocopy double-sided to minimize prep. There are 8 check columns per page, so that you can really get the most from each card - call the words randomly, ticking them off as you go, so that you can check the winning grids. You can vary the use of the definite and indefinite article, singular or plural. = Calling card, featuring the English translation of the Spanish Christmas words. This is great for additional challenge - students hear the English word, and translate it quickly, looking for it in writing in Spanish in the grid. School licenses are available. Please read the Terms of Use carefully. These Spanish Christmas Numbers 0-31 task cards are perfect for beginner Spanish learners, and really do help to create a lively language learning environment. I’ve found that lessons around the Christmas period are a great time for revisiting and practicing language and structures we’ve looked at over the semester. The questions are entirely in Spanish, and students can develop, embed, reinforce and refresh their developing knowledge of Spanish in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher. They have a bonus multi-skill focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading and spelling. They’re great for helping students familiarize themselves with, and develop competence in, speaking, reading, writing and spelling in Spanish in general, and certainly in Spanish numbers and Spanish Christmas vocabulary in particular. The questions range in complexity and challenge, not only in terms of calculation, but also in terms of the level of Spanish - they are aimed at advanced beginner Spanish learners, rather than new or recent beginners. Most learners will be able to infer meaning from context and images, which have a real Spanish Christmas theme, such as el turrón and las uvas, with vocabulary and structures repeated throughout, giving learners a chance to familiarise themselves really well with them. Nonetheless, it can be useful to read through the questions with the whole class first to check everyone is able to access the language, and therefore the activity, successfully. Students really do benefit in terms of language learning if they have regular and frequent opportunities to work with the cards, rather than simply working with them in a single lesson. The Spanish Christmas vocabulary provides a really useful springboard for discussion about Christmas customs and traditions in Spain, Spanish regions, and other Spanish-speaking countries too, comparing and contrasting these to other Christmas practices students may know. The resource comprises the following non-editable files: = 48 differentiated question cards = answer recording sheet & answer key = question card template Have a browse in my store for more Spanish resources, including special offer bundles and freebies. ¡MUCHAS GRACIAS Y FELIZ NAVIDAD!

There are 6 worksheets, with three differentiated conjugation challenges, each with 50 individual conjugations, in two design formats: = Workbook Format: 10-page workbook, with cover page, verbs lists, six worksheets and Notes, Next Steps and New Verbs page, where students note any points they’d like to work more on, map their progress and list any new regular German verbs they learn, which helps them develop a really useful German verb bank. = Worksheet Format: worksheets can be printed out individually, or as a pack without the cover page, verbs lists and progress template, useful for quick revision, refresher, starters / finishers, and also generally saves on prep costs The answer key is a separate file with six pages, and I generally print this out as a pack for classwork, with groups of students sharing an individual pack. The worksheets also address a broad range of vocabulary and grammar points, such as direct / indirect object pronouns, negative sentences and various question formats. Some sentences include modal verbs and subordinating conjunctions, to ensure that students can practice locating the verb or infinitive accurately. Students may not have engaged with all the language used at this stage, and this makes the activity equally about engaging with new language, as well as practicing and reinforcing the current language focus. There are three differentiated conjugation challenges: = Conjugation Challenge 1: each verb conjugated in sentence format across a range of pronouns, with students writing the corresponding translation. Translating accurately is an important skill for language learners to engage with and master, and this kind of focused practice is really useful for them. = Conjugation Challenge 2: straightforward conjugation drill: each question gives a German infinitive and a target pronoun. Students write the corresponding German verb conjugation. = Conjugation Challenge 3: mirrors Challenge 1, with an increased challenge. Students write the German translation from an English sentence, to ensure that they are able to produce as well as recognize both the correct conjugation and an accurate translation. The questions are aimed at advanced beginner French into intermediate French students, and have a multi-skill focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading and spelling. The questions are all in French, and are differentiated, ranging in complexity and challenge. There may be some vocabulary and grammar that students are not yet familiar with, and these questions give them the opportunity to learn and apply new language. This means that the activity is not solely about practicing and consolidating learned language, but also actively engaging with, and learning, new language. A range of grammatical concepts are addressed in the questions too, such as gender agreement, direct and indirect objects and question format in French. There are translation questions from both French into English and English into French. This introduces students to the concept of translation from a very early point in their French learning programme. To maximize the learning potential, we look at the multiple-choice questions as a whole-group, identifying not only why there is a single correct response, but what the errors are in the other choices: identifying errors, and explaining precisely why something is inaccurate or incorrect, helps students to think about language a little more laterally, and ensures that they are thinking concepts through, rather than simply relying on learned responses. The set comprises the following non-editable files: = 48 differentiated question cards laminate if possible - the cards are more learner-friendly, and remain in excellent condition for years = answer key & answer recording sheet we use the recording sheet for more formal assessment purposes; students generally use their class workbooks to note responses, saving both prep time and expense Have a browse in my store for more French resources, including special offer bundles and freebies. Word searches are a fabulous way of encouraging learners to engage with the written word, practising and reinforcing language as they complete the grids. This set features ten differentiated word searches, focusing on Numbers 0-100, with each consecutive grid increasing in challenge. The searches offer a really useful learning opportunity - enabling learners to engage with the target vocabulary, but also aligning with cross-curricular learning - working on reading, writing, spelling, numeracy and French language skills in general. Learners are able to identify which direction words are located in within the grid by referring to the arrow key. As they move through the grids, their language skills are challenged in a range of ways - from straightforward vocabulary searching, to gap-fill, scrambled letters and more complex questions, which feature mathematical language in French. Hyphens are important in French numbers, and the grids feature these quite clearly, in order to ensure that learners can practice this aspect of language. There is an answer grid for each word search, so that students can check their answers or use for a little extra help if they need it. Answer keys provide students with an additional opportunity to engage with language, and also help them to develop more independence in their learning. They’re also a great teacher time-saver. There are two formats to choose from - the search grids and answer keys as separate worksheets, and also a file with both grids and answer keys together, so that you can print each grid and key double-sided, according to which suits your classroom needs better.
